Website saves you £100 on UK train tickets – but there’s a catch | Travel News | Travel
The idea of catching the train for a festive day out to a Christmas market or shopping in the city centre is an appealing thought – that’s until we see the extortionate price of train tickets. However, there’s a nifty website that can help you save up to £100 on your train fare, so we can sit back, relax and enjoy the journey for less.
When booking train travel, many of us will automatically head to Trainline or other booking websites in the hope of finding the best deal. While they can offer their own deals and discounts, particularly with the addition of a railcard, there’s another website that can help you save even more, and not many people are aware of it.
Anyone looking to book a train can visit the Avanti Super Fare website, which matches travellers with an empty seat at a bargain price. Those using the service can snap up a train ticket from Birmingham to London for as little as £9, Liverpool to London for a mere £19 or a train from Manchester to London for just £25.
The cost of the tickets on Avanti Super Fare is “priced low, no matter what time you go”, so there are no surprising price increases depending on when you book or the time of travel. The nifty website can help save passengers more than £100 on major UK train routes, with some tickets from Manchester to London costing a whopping £193 on other booking websites.
So what’s the catch? Here’s everything you need to know about using the service. While you can choose the exact day you’re travelling, the destination and the number of passengers, you need to be slightly flexible with your plans. Instead of choosing a specific train time, you opt for a rough time frame.
Anyone using the website will choose a morning (07:00 – 11:59), afternoon (12:00 – 16:59), or evening (17:00 – 21:00) slot for when they prefer to travel. Once that has been chosen, the traveller will then pay for the set price of the ticket. Then, 24 hours before the departure date, passengers will receive the train ticket from Avanti Super Fare, confirming the specific time to board the train. This could be any available seat on a train within the chosen timeframe.
The good news is that you can book these seven days in advance and up to 56 days before travel. However, to keep costs low, Superfare tickets can’t be amended and are non-refundable. In addition, it’s important to note that the Superfare tickets aren’t always available every day or for any location. However, there is a catalogue of UK destinations available to book, meaning you can explore for less, particularly during the festive season if you can be flexible with your plans.
You can travel to and from these major destinations with the Superfare rate on a comfy Avanti West Coast train:
- London
- Birmingham
- Manchester
- Liverpool
- Preston
- Glasgow
- Stafford
- Crewe
- Stoke-on-Trent
- Warrington
- Runcorn
- Macclesfield
- Chester
- Stockport
- Wigan
- Lancaster
For more information or to book your next train ticket, you can visit the Avanti Super Fare website.
