Sony has just launched its bumper Spring Sale for PS4 and PS5 games, as well as add-on content and DLC.
The PlayStation Spring Sale runs until April 23, although it will refresh with new deals on April 9. According to Sony, some deals will also end on April 9, so you may have to hurry if you spot a bargain today.
With the Spring Sale in full swing, the Daily Express has picked out ten of the best deals you can grab during the first phase of the PlayStation Spring Sale.
This includes deals on the number one rated games for both the PS4 and PS5, as well as one or two indie hits that need more attention.
1. Elden Ring – WAS £49.99, NOW £29.99
With a score of 96%, open-world Soulslike Elden Ring is the number one rated PS5 game on Metacritic. At just under £30, it’s not the cheapest game in the sale, but with hundreds of hours of gameplay, it provides some of the best value for money. If you like games developed by FromSoftware, then it’s worth noting that Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon is also available at the discounted price of £35.99.
2. Red Dead Redemption 2 – WAS £54.99, NOW £13.74
From the highest-rated PS5 game to the highest-rated PS4 game, Red Dead Redemption 2 is discounted by a whopping 75%. It’s an incredible deal for a game that’s about as close to perfect as they come. You can also save 50% on GTA 5 for the PlayStation 5, which is reduced to £17.49.
3. Persona 5 Royal Ultimate Edition – WAS £49.99, NOW £19.99
A fan favourite role-playing game, Persona 5 sees players attend classes in the day, before exploring a supernatural realm and battling monsters at night. With the campaign potentially clocking in at over 100 hours, not to mention the addition of bonus DLC, Persona 5 Royal should keep you busy until the next sale.
4. Hogwarts Legacy (PS5) – WAS £64.99, NOW £16.24
Speaking of games in which you balance classes with saving the world, Hogwarts Legacy is a Harry Potter spinoff that takes place in the famous wizarding school during the 1800s. With gorgeous visuals and varied gameplay, it’s no surprise why this is one of the best-selling games of the decade.
5. Mortal Kombat 1 – WAS £44.99, NOW 14.84
Not for the squeamish, Mortal Kombat 1 is a gory and gruesome fighting game with unmatched visuals and presentation. The cinematic campaign sees players battle against a host of new and returning characters, as our heroes fight to protect the new world created by Liu Kang. Then there are those gloriously violent finishing moves, which get more elaborate by the game. Mortal Kombat X is also reduced in price, costing just £3.99.
6. Marvel’s Midnight Suns – WAS £64.99, NOW £9.74
Marvel’s Midnight Suns is a surprisingly deep and entertaining strategy game featuring all of your favourite heroes and supervillains. Developed by the team behind XCOM: Enemy Unknown and XCOM 2, it features similar turn-based combat, albeit utilising a card system and deckbuilding elements. There are multiple versions available in the sale, including slightly more expensive editions with additional characters.
7. Pepper Grinder – WAS £12.99, NOW £6.49
With a ‘Very Positive’ 85% score on Steam, indie platformer Pepper Grinder is an absolute steal at £6.49. Lead character Pepper is armed with a Grinder tool that can be used to drill through environments, bounce off platforms, power-up machines and defeat enemies. In additio to addictive gameplay, it also features a gorgeous visual style that hearkens back to classic platformers of the past.
8. Deep Rock Galactic – WAS £24.99, NOW £8.24
It’s fair to say that Deep Rock Galactic is something of a surprise hit. Playable solo or with teams of four, the game tasks groups of dwarves with exploring caves, fighting monsters and mining for precious minerals. The procedurally-generated levels provides almost endless replay value, while the destructible environments provide endless fun.
9. Lost Judgement Digital Deluxe Edition – WAS £54.99, NOW £10.99
Lost Judgement is a Yakuza/Like a Dragon spinoff, featuring similar combat and exploration, albeit with a twist. In this game you play as a private detective attempting to solve a mysterious double murder. You’ll need to follow leads, interrogate witnesses and examine crime scenes, all the while dealing with various gangs and violent offenders that attempt to block your progress. Lost Judgement also lets you play classic SEGA arcade and Master System games during your downtime, which is a fantastic bonus for fans of old-school gaming.
10. Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands: Chaotic Great Edition – WAS £79.99, NOW £15.99
Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands is a Borderlands spinoff themed around classic tabletop adventure games like Dungeons and Dragons. Similar to Borderlands, Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands features thousands of weapons, dozens of epic boss battles and a ton of loot, only the action takes place in a fantasy realm where certain actions revolve around the roll of a dice. The Chaotic Great Edition contains additional content like the Season Pass and other items.
