US Open LIVE: Medvedev launches angry rampage as star leaves tournament in wheelchair | Tennis | Sport

Andy Murray has admitted he would have to consider his future in tennis if he began to tumble back down the rankings.

The Briton has enjoyed a strong season this year with back-to-back Challenger titles in Surbiton and Nottingham earlier this summer.

But his hopes in Grand Slams came to an abrupt end on Thursday in a straight-sets defeat to Grigor Dimitrov.

Murray has no immediate plans to consider retirement, but he did admit after the loss that his view could change.

He said: “If things change and I stop enjoying that or my results, my ranking and everything, if I start to go backwards in that respect, in a few months’ time I was ranked 60 in the world or whatever instead of moving up the way, things might change.”
