UK’s ‘best campsite’ is £21 a night with huge pool and beautiful beach | UK | Travel

Treloy Touring Park, a campsite near Newquay, has been awarded the prestigious AA Campsite of the Year South West England for 2025. The beachfront location and facilities, including a heated outdoor pool, helped it secure the accolade.

The AA also gave it a five-star rating according to their grading system. With 223 pitches available for motorhomes, caravans, and tents, this beachfront campsite has an impressive 4.7 rating on Google reviews. Located on the A3059, close to Newquay, the site overlooks the shimmering Celtic Sea. The sandy Porth Beach is just a 10-minute drive away and is a favourite spot for surfers due to its choppy waves.

On calmer days, visitors can swim or paddle in the sea, or explore the rock pools scattered around the sandy shore.

Next door is the  bustling Newquay Beach, which, despite being very popular, offers plenty of sand to stretch out on. Here too, you’ll find numerous surfers, paddleboarders, kayakers, and others enjoying the waves, reports Cornwall Live.

One of the main attractions at Treloy is its heated swimming pool. Open from 8am to 7pm daily, the pool area features sun loungers where guests can relax and soak up some sunshine. There’s also a smaller paddling pool for the little ones.

AA inspectors praised Treloy for its quality modern showers and toilet blocks, making camping a much more comfortable experience. The site has 20 private washrooms, as well as three family shower rooms, making it easier for parents to get their children changed and ready.

Holidaymakers can select from a variety of hard-standing or grass pitches, some equipped with water and electric hook-ups. In 2026, the campsite will introduce XL pitches for larger families or those wanting extra space.

The site also boasts a shop where you can grab essentials like a Cornish pasty, and a café that prides itself on using locally-sourced produce. Children will be thrilled with the outdoor play area and an indoor games room featuring table tennis.

The campsite is surrounded by a woodland trail and pond, with numerous country walks starting right from your pitch.

Treloy even welcomes dogs, so your four-legged companion can join in on the nature walks. There’s even a dog shower and exercise field to ensure your pet gets plenty of outdoor time.

You’ll also be near the town of Newquay for day trips, and the area is brimming with family-friendly activities. Children will adore Newquay Zoo, home to playful penguins and exotic animals ranging from lions to meerkats.

The zoo is located within Trenance Gardens, offering a lake, playgrounds, and ample outdoor space to roam.

Oasis Fun Pools in Newquay offers thrilling waterslides and river rapids, along with activities such as sea scooters. Alternatively, stay dry and visit the Blue Reef Aquarium Newquay, where you can marvel at exotic marine life from the safety of a glass tunnel.

Starting at just £21 per night for a non-electric grass pitch, stays at Treloy Touring Park require a minimum booking of two nights depending on your arrival date. Discover more and secure your booking here.
