UK weather maps show exact dates of summer heatwave number 4 as number 3 begins | Weather | News

The UK is bracing for yet another heatwave towards the end of July after temperatures this weekend are expected to soar above 30C. New maps from WXCHARTS, which uses MetDesk data, revealed a new period of hot weather is forecast for July 19 to 22, just a week afer the current heatwave.

This four-day period is expected to bring temperatures soaring above 30C, particularly in southern England, which will sees highs of 33C. According to the maps, the worst-affected areas will be Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Oxfordshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, and Sussex. In Hampshire, temperatures are due to hit 33C – the highest of the four-day heatwave. Elsewhere, it’ll be between 30C and 32C.

Further north it’s expected to be slightly cooler, with temperatures between 21C and 29C. Despite this, areas such as Yorkshire and Lincolnshire will still hit at least 30C.

Separately, the Met Office long range forecast for July 14 to 23 reads: “The heatwave from the weekend will be gradually eroded from the west early next week as a cold front arrives from the Atlantic.

“This will bring the chance of some heavy rain or showers, perhaps thundery, especially in northern and western areas.

“Towards and beyond midweek, a rather changeable pattern is anticipated with some rain or showers possible at times, which could be heavy and thundery, and particularly focussed in western and northwestern areas.

“Longer drier spells are most likely towards the south and east, although even here some showers may be possible at times.

“Temperatures are likely to remain above average, especially in the south and east where further spells of very warm or hot weather remain possible.”

This comes amid the current heatwave, which will extend over the weekend before temperatures start to cool early next week.

High pressure from the Atlantic will lead to increasing temperatures that will persist for longer than previous heatwaves this year, the Met Office explained. In total, 15 cities are expected to bask in temperatures of at least 30C, from Salford to Southampton.

This prompted the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) to issue yellow Heat Health Alerts for parts of Central and Southern England from Wednesday until Monday.

The UKHSA said the heatwave was expected to pose “significant impacts” on health and social care services.
