UK town loved by celebs has ‘best fish and chips in England’

Found on the Kent coast, there’s said to be a ‘stunning’ seaside town with the ‘best fish and chips in England’. The ‘beautiful’ town claims to be a popular destination for tourists, and it’s attracted more than a few celebrities in recent years.

Margate is renowned for its ‘picturesque’ beaches and ‘vibrant’ food scene. With all the charm of a traditional seaside town, it has attracted a long list of A-list celebrities. According to Kent Live, previous visitors include Lily Allen, Sam Mendes, Olivia Coleman, and Madonna.

Margate is less than two hours from London by train, with the train station located opposite the Main Sands, a 200m long beach that’s often packed with families in the summer. It’s also a short walk from many popular attractions, including Dreamland amusement park, the Turner Contemporary Gallery, and the Old Town, which is home to a variety of independent stores.

If you work up an appetite with all the sightseeing, there’s no shortage of cafes, bars and restaurants. Giant Coffee, The Bus Cafe, Olby’s Soul Cafe, Great British Pizza Company, and Palms Pizzeria are just a few of the popular spots.

Or, if you’re in the mood for a classic seaside treat, take your pick from one of the many fish and chip restaurants. One of the most popular choices is Peter’s Fish Factory, a family-run fish and chip shop found opposite the harbour, in the Old Town.

Peter’s Fish Factory has earned rave reviews on TripAdvisor, with one visitor claiming the chippy serves the ‘best fish and chips in England’.

The viewer said: “Best Fish and Chips in England. Excellent fish and chips every time, fish and batter are well-cooked, hot and delicious.

“Veggie burger tasty, takes ages to cook so I ask them to chuck one in before joining the inevitable, but worth the wait, queue. Chips are 10/10 every time. Go and sit on the steps and enjoy with a drink from the 2 halves with the best view in the world!”

Another fan commented: “Delicious chips, best we’ve had in years! The best chips we’ve had in years! Cheerful staff and perfect location on the seafront, opposite the Pavilion. Very good value compared to our local chippy in London.”

Someone else wrote: “Best fish and chips we’ve had in a long time, so good we visited twice in one day! Really friendly staff and welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended.”

A different comment said: “Simply the best fish and chips I’ve eaten in over 40 years, this place knows how its done, a true traditional chippy where things are done right, I just wish I’d ordered the bigger portions, not a single chip was left out of our two portions.”
