UK snow maps show 33-hour ‘blizzard’ to hit Britain – 13 counties affected | Weather | News

Parts of the UK are likely to be blasted by a 33-hour snow blizzard as the temperature level plunges to -4C in the coming days. The weather maps from WXCharts shows that snowy conditions are likely to impact several parts of the country between February 5 at 9pm and February 7 at 6am.

The weather maps have turned white and purple during the time period, indicating the possibility of wintry conditions. WXCharts maps show that many counties in England and Scotland will be covered under the snow. Around 13 counties across the UK will be impacted by the bitter cold conditions, the maps have suggested.

The long-range weather forecast between February 6 and 15 reads: “Frontal systems over the Atlantic, steered by a south-shifted jet stream, are likely to approach the UK at times, but tending to stall as they encounter a blocking area of high pressure to the north and northeast.

“This will result in further spells of rain at times, falling in areas already sensitive to flooding. As these bands of rain spread northwards, some snow will be possible in northern England and Scotland, mainly over higher ground, as they encounter colder air.

“A subtle shift southwards of these areas of low pressure is anticipated during the second week of February, which may allow a greater chance of colder air to spread across larger parts of the UK, including the south, bringing an increased risk of wintry hazards for a time.”
