Trump’s wild Scottish golf getaway – from fairway snipers to Jeffrey Epstein | UK | News
Donald Trump hosted Prime Minister Keir Starmer at his Scottish golf resort on day four of his whistestop private visit to the UK – bringing with him a whole host of the weird and wonderful.
From sniper security teams posted on the golf course to puppet-wielding protesters and van’s with Jeffrey Epstein’s face on them. In a meandering press conference with Mr Starmer today the US president touched on everything from his “great love of Scotland”to how bad a job he thought Sadiq Khan was doing as Mayor of London.
Trump, who has Scottish heritage on his mother’s side, played two rounds of golf on Saturday and Sunday at his luxury Turnberry resort in South Ayrshire.
He met Europan Commission chief Ursula von der Leyen yesterday to announce a surprise US-EU trade deal. The American leader’s visit comes months before his second formal state visit to Britain when he will be hosted by the King in September.
Former police chiefs have claimed providing security for Trump’s stay in Scotland could have cost the UK taxpayer more than £5million, and Police Scotland have had to deploy officers to control a number of anti-Trump demonstrations in Aberdeen and Edinburgh over the weekend.
