Trump’s chilling phone call about Epstein exposed – ‘Thank god you are stopping him’ | World | News

A former police chief who investigated Jeffrey Epstein has claimed that Donald Trump made a chilling admission to him in a phone call. According to an FBI account of an interview with Michael Reiter, he said the US president told him: “Thank goodness you’re stopping him; everyone has known he’s been doing this.”

Reiter’s name is redacted from the document on the US Department of Justice’s website following the interview in 2019, but information from the FBI aligns with public information about the investigation into Epstein that started in 2005. Detectives investigated whether the disgraced financier recruited girls as young as 14 for massages that turned sexual.

The FBI report reads: “DONALD TRUMP told [Reiter] that he threw EPSTEIN out of his club. TRUMP called the [Palm Beach Police Department] to tell him ‘thank goodness you’re stopping him, everyone has known he’s been doing this’.”

Reiter told the Miami Herald that the phone call was made in 2006 – roughly when details of the investigation became public.

The report continues: “TRUMP told him people in New York knew EPSTEIN was disgusting. TRUMP said MAXWELL was EPSTEIN’s operative, ‘she is evil and to focus on her’.

“TRUMP told [Reiter] that he was around EPSTEIN once when teenagers were present and TRUMP ‘got the hell out of there’. TRUMP was one of the very first people to call when people found out that they were investigating EPSTEIN.”

Trump has repeatedly denied any wrongdoing or knowledge of Epstein’s crimes, saying he cut him off over 20 years ago.

Following the release of three million more documents at the end of January, the US president said America should move on from the Epstein files.

He said: “I think it’s really time for the country to maybe get onto something else. Now that nothing came out about me, other than it was a conspiracy against me, literally by Epstein and other people.”

In the January 30 release, Trump’s name, his Mar-a-Lago resort, and other references to him are mention 38,000 in 5,300 files, according to the New York Times.
