The January transfer window is almost upon us and Premier League clubs are making their final preparations ahead of a busy month of deals. The first half of the 2024-25 season has emphasised the need for many teams to improve their squads.

Not many fans would have predicted the underperformance of Manchester City this season. Nor, to a lesser extent, Arsenal. Neither of the two teams who have competed for the title in the last few seasons look ready to challenge Liverpool and Chelsea at the top without further reinforcements.

Liverpool themselves may benefit from a couple of additions to bolster Arne Slot‘s squad and ensure the Reds claim a first league title since 2020. Then there is Manchester United, who look like they could need a whole host of new signings to fit into Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 formation.
