Tourist who’s been to all 50 names Europe’s ‘worst’ country and says ‘only visit once’ | World | News
A man who visited every country in Europe has named his least favourite one, calling it “great to visit once”, but not somewhere to return to. Drew Binsky, traveller and YouTuber, created his ranking of nations based on six criteria: friendliness, affordability, cuisine, night life, natural beauty, and historical wonders. Despite seeming to check one of these boxes, the Vatican City ended up dead last on Drew’s list.
He said the smallest country in the world was hindered by its size, making it a good trip for just “a few hours”. He said: It’s so small. There’s no hotels so it’s impossible to overnight, and if you try to sleep on the street, like my friend did, you’ll get arrested. It’s a place that you just visit for a few hours. The lines are so brutal, so please go early or buy the fast pass tickets if you’re going to take a tour.
“The Vatican is great to visit once … it’s like the Grand Canyon, it’s amazing to visit once … but you don’t really have to go again.”
The Vatican City, inside Rome, is just 0.19 square miles and home to merely 882 people, making it the smallest sovereign state in the world by both area and population.
Vatican citizenship can also be granted to those who work for the Holy See but live elsewhere, which is the case for diplomats and cardinals in Rome.
On the flip side, Drew named his favourite country in Europe as the Czech Republic, going so far as to call Prague’s Old Town his “favourite place on the planet”.
He said: “It’s so beautiful. Medieval architecture, incredible churches, the oldest functioning astronomical clock tower in the world; it just doesn’t get any better than this.
“Even though I’ve spent a year of my life in this city, I still have the goosebumps every time I’m here. I love it.”
