Three dead in horror crash as two victims named locally | UK | News


Two victims of a tragic three-vehicle collision on Saturday evening have been identified locally. The Police Service of Northern Ireland confirmed on Sunday that three people lost their lives following the “serious” road traffic incident on the Armagh Road near Moy on February 21. Two men, aged 31 and 48, and a woman, aged 23, were sadly pronounced deceased at the scene and three further people were taken to hospital for their injuries.

The victim have been named locally as 31 year old father Conor Quinn from Coalisland and 23 year old mother Laura Hoy from Cookstown. Conor’s sister posted on social media to announce the heartbreaking news of her brother’s death, describing him as a “cherished father, brother and son”, reports Belfast Live.

She said: “He will always be loved and missed.” SDLP Armagh Councillor Thomas O’Hanlon has offered his sympathies to the families of those affected.

Councillor Thomas O’Hanlon said: “This is a devastating tragedy for everyone involved. Three families and their wider communities have been plunged into deep grief. There are truly no words that can ease such pain, other than to offer our thoughts and prayers at this incredibly difficult time.

“Our thoughts and prayers are also with the first responders from all emergency services who attended the scene and were faced with such harrowing circumstances.

“May God protect and comfort all those affected by this tragedy.”

A press conference took place at the collision site on Sunday afternoon. Assistant Chief Constable Davy Beck stated: “At around 10.20pm, Police received a report of a three-vehicle collision involving a red BMW, a grey Volkswagen and a white Audi.

“Officers attended, along with colleagues from other emergency services, however, two men, aged 31 and 48, and a woman, aged 23, were sadly pronounced deceased at the scene.

“Four other people sustained injuries, three of whom are receiving medical treatment.

“Enquires are continuing and anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed the incident or who has dashcam footage or any other information, should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1654 – 21/02/26.”
