The stunning forest escape perfect for a winter staycation | Travel News | Travel

People seeking a relaxing getaway isolated from most, can head to one of the small cabins hidden deep in Snowdonia National Park.

The huge park is known for its beautiful landscapes and incredible scenery.

Loved by hikers, walkers and those looking for an adventure, the park is one of the best in the UK.

Eryri in Snowdonia, is the perfect place for an autumn retreat – its rugged countryside and varied walking trails mean there is something for everyone.

You’ll be able to see panoramic views of the surrounding countryside and you can even take a hike over the Carneddau mountain range.

Located nearby, you’ll find Plas Newydd House, which features incredible gardens, and the Railway Museum at Penrhyn Castle.

In Cartref, you can book a stay in the National Trust holiday property – a simple yet stunning small cabin where you’ll feel like there’s no one else around for miles.

This unique experience will allow you to have a rare and special stay. You’ll be surrounded by nature, and there is even a small stream next to the cabin. The area is located on a working farm and is not far from Beddgelert, Gwynedd.

Inside the property, there is no shower as it’s so small there is no space for one, but there is a large bathtub outside, which contributes to an even more unique experience.

The nearby village of Beddgelert is known for its picturesque stone houses and quaint look.

One visitor on Tripadvisor said: “A whistle stop visit as we had pre-booked portmeirion. We will definitely be back. Gorgeous location at the foot of the mountains, beautiful walks and trails.

“A bustling and well-appointed village high street. We did a very short loop to Gelert’s grave, got delicious ice cream and a quick trip to the two shops we had time for. A very enjoyable hour wish we had had more time.”

If you want to also explore the Welsh coast as well as the mountains, you can drive to Porthmadog and Anglesey. Both are perfect for a family day on the beach or for long beach walks.
