The UK is full of charming seaside towns, but many of the most attractive coastal spots come with steep house prices. For people hoping to live by the sea, it often feels like the dream is out of reach, with property values pushed up by demand, views and holiday-home buyers.
However, there is one pretty Victorian seaside town where house prices are far more affordable than in many other coastal areas. It offers long promenades, family attractions, traditional markets and historic landmarks, all without the sky-high price tag usually seen in popular seaside destinations.

That town is Fleetwood in Lancashire. According to Visit Lancashire, Fleetwood is “a beautiful, Victorian seaside resort” with a “stunning promenade”, an Art Deco theatre, a yacht marina, traditional shops and the famous Fleetwood Market with around 200 stalls.
The town has also benefited from recent regeneration to upgrade buildings, improve facilities and encourage new businesses, helping it position itself as “the perfect holiday destination”.
Visitors can enjoy views across the coast, walk along the flat promenade or explore attractions such as Marine Splash, the Marine Hall Theatre and the award-winning fish and chip shops the area is known for.
Fleetwood Boating Lake is also popular for crabbing, while the coastal paths link the town to Cleveleys and Blackpool.

There is even a short passenger ferry crossing connecting Fleetwood with Knott-End-On-Sea.
Fleetwood Market remains one of the town’s biggest draws, offering more than 250 indoor and outdoor stalls selling food, gifts and household items.
Shoppers can also visit the Lancashire Affinity Outlet, set beside the marina and featuring well-known brands with discounts of up to 60%.
The town centre is filled with independent shops and cafés, while other attractions include Rossall Point observation tower, Fleetwood Museum, Farmer Parrs Animal World, Memorial Park, The Mount Pavilion and Marine Hall.
Football fans can also visit Highbury Stadium, home to Fleetwood Town FC.

But it is the property prices that may surprise many people looking to relocate.
At the time of writing, there is one three-bedroom home in Fleetwood that does not require renovation and is on the market for £120,000.
Many other properties in the town are priced well under £200,000.
And for anyone considering a renovation project, Fleetwood has even cheaper options.
Some houses are listed for less than £100,000, with certain properties available for as little as £70,000.
According to a 2025 analysis from RightMove, Fleetwood is the seventh cheapest seaside location in the UK with an average house price standing at £148,101.
