The astonishing bit of advice Meghan Markle’s new show had for us | Royal | News

Meghan Markle flower-sprinkled her way back onto our screens this week as her lifestyle show – With Love, Meghan – returned for a new series. Stepping back behind the kitchen counter of a rented Californian mansion, Meghan showed her viewers how to make home versions of McDonald’s apple pies and Cheez-Its (cheese crackers to you and me).

She then turned her attention to whipping us up a curiously named “lavender grey latte”, apparently made from Earl Grey tea, lavender, frothy honey and vanilla milk.

It was something of a departure from her days of rainbow fruit platters and repacked shop-bought pretzels. There were home help tips, too, from the Duchess as she showed her audience how to pack a suitcase – “Seeing it all is really helpful,” she declared with a grin. What’s next? How to breathe? How to dress? Thank goodness Meghan is on hand to guide us through life’s toughest trials!

She also showed off the 40th birthday present she bought for her husband, a baseball cap emblazoned with PH40.

It has to be said – this series did have a different feel. With more British guests and references to what she missed from the time she spent in the country, it struck a more wholesome chord… even if us Brits were recently told we were not as “classy” as our American counterparts to enjoy such delights.

But, as ever, eight new episodes on the world’s biggest streaming service was not enough for the Duchess. She also felt the need to take yet another swipe at the Royal Family in a separate interview released on the same day…to ensure maximum Meghan-mania.

Admitting that she didn’t feel “authentic” when she was royal, Meghan referred to the need to wear nude pantyhose – or tights – when she was out and about. But that’s all changed now, of course – “Right now, no, I don’t feel that I need to prove anything,” she says.

Netflix may think otherwise. The Sussexes’ latest deal with the streaming giant is noticeably less generous than their original signing.

Big news for Queen Camilla’s charity

I revealed earlier this week that Queen Camilla’s Reading Room charity will partner with domestic abuse charity, The Elm Foundation, to help people heal through reading. While her charity is independent, it’s understood the Queen is aware and supportive of the partnership.

Not only has she always been an avid reader, she has long been an advocate for those who suffer abuse, coercive control and sexual violence. The partnership will be officially announced next month at the Queen’s Reading Room Festival, held at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire.

Vicki Perrin, CEO of the Queen’s Reading Room, told me: “Her Majesty’s expertise and her understanding of domestic violence and the pathways to rebuilding lives are incredibly helpful to us in building our own work.

“To bring these two important causes together is the sort of thing that only Her Majesty can do.”

Prince Harry’s UK return clash

In the latest diary clash for the Sussexes, Prince Harry’s imminent return to the UK will coincide with the third anniversary of the death of Queen Elizabeth II.

Harry will touch down in his birth country on September 8 to celebrate the achievements of children with serious illnesses as patron of the 2025 Wellchild Awards.

It’s expected this will be yet another solo return for the Duke, with Meghan staying behind in Montecito with Archie and Lilibet.

Despite revealing recently that she was particularly fond of Magic FM during her brief stint as a UK royal, Meghan notably hasn’t visited Britain since the late monarch’s funeral.

Fresh headache for Prince Andrew

After a fall from grace which would rival a Greek tragedy, there’s more trouble brewing for the beleaguered Duke of York. A book written by the late Virginia Giuffre, who took her own life in Australia in April aged 41, will soon be published posthumously.

Nobody’s Girl has already been called “unsparing” by sources. Giuffre accused Prince Andrew of sexual abuse when she was 17 – a claim he has strongly denied. In 2022, the royal reached a multi-million-dollar settlement over her civil action, but never accepted liability.
