The 5 most sought-after trips for 2026 from Brits’ travel wishlists | Travel News | Travel
The five most sought-after trips on Brits’ travel wishlists have been revealed. Experts at tour operator Titan Travel analysed travel threads on Reddit to uncover the countries and cities UK travellers are truly dreaming of visiting.
Japan tops UK travellers’ travel wish lists, with Reddit users praising it as a destination they’ve “meant to visit for years”. From the serene temples of Kyoto to the bustling streets, markets, and museums of Tokyo and Osaka, travellers are drawn to Japan’s mix of historic culture, vibrant city life, and everyday experiences that feel uniquely Japanese. Several travellers mention Japan’s food, design and craftsmanship as key draws, along with interest in rural or scenic areas beyond the major cities. In second place is Spain, offering a sense of familiarity while still holding surprises. Reddit users say there’s “so much of the country they’ve yet to explore”.
From the lively cultures of Catalonia and Andalusia to the quieter towns of the Costa Blanca and the scenic landscapes of Asturias, Galicia, and Cantabria, Spain combines tried-and-true favourites with new discoveries.
Mentions of Málaga, Granada, Javea, and Nerja show travellers returning to beloved spots or seeking sun-soaked escapes beyond the usual beach resorts.
France came third, with travellers agreeing it’s a destination best explored through specific, experience-led trips rather than general sightseeing.
Many posts reference skiing in the Alps, exploring the Côte d’Azur, or meandering through historic towns in the south – experiences that feel more “bucket list” than a standard weekend break in Paris.
In fourth was Italy, with users dreaming of their next Italian escape. Many posts show that users are dreaming of enjoying Italy’s countryside, whether exploring the Great Lakes in the north or the sun-kissed Amalfi Coast in the south.
Italian food and culture are often considered appealing, with authentic Neapolitan pizza and Italian wine tasting high on people’s bucket lists.
Coming in fifth was Iceland, a premier, year-round destination renowned for dramatic, otherworldly landscapes – glaciers, volcanoes, geysers, and geothermal spas like the Blue Lagoon.
Key attractions include the Golden Circle, the South Coast, the Northern Lights (winter) and the Midnight Sun (summer). The country is expensive, so plan for high costs.
