Tennis star banned for three years and nine months after fixing matches | Tennis | Sport

Russian tennis player Alana Tuayeva has been suspended from competition for three years and nine months after admitting to breaches of the Tennis Anti-Corruption Program. The International Tennis Integrity Agency confirmed on Tuesday that Tuayeva accepted the ban and a £22k ($30k) fine, of which £15.5k ($21k) is suspended.

Tuayeva, who peaked at No. 1282 in the world in singles, admitted to all of the ITIA charges, including fixing two of her own matches at ITF World Tennis Tour level in 2023 and 2024. The 26-year-old accepted an agreed sanction with the ITIA and waived her right to a hearing before an independent Anti-Corruption Hearing Officer (AHO).

The former world No. 1282 has been provisionally suspended since December 19, 2025. This time will be credited against her period of ineligibility. It means Tuayeva’s ban will end on September 18, 2029, subject to the repayment of outstanding fines.

The ITIA announced Tuayeva’s provisional suspension on January 20 earlier this year, “pending the full consideration of Tennis Anti-Corruption Program (TACP) charges.” The provisional suspension was issued under section F.3.b.i.4 (likelihood of a Major Offence) of the anti-corruption program.

Section F.3.b.i.4 reads: “There is a likelihood that the Covered Person has committed a Corruption Offence which is above Category C2 of the Sanctioning Guidelines and in the absence of a Provisional Suspension, the integrity of tennis would be undermined and the harm resulting from the absence of a Provisional Suspension outweighs the Hardship of the Provisional Suspension on the Covered Person.”

At the time, the ITIA also announced provisional suspensions for Serbian tennis player Nikol Palecek and three national-level tennis officials, Marko Ristic of Serbia, and Zsolt Bagosi and Tamas Tarnai of Hungary. All provisional suspensions were issued under the same section of the anti-corruption program. None of them elected to appeal to an AHO.

Tuayeva has not played a match since appearing at the W15 Maanshan in July last year, according to her ITF profile. While suspended, the 26-year-old cannot play in, coach at or attend any tennis event authorised or sanctioned by members of the ITIA.

This includes tournaments run by the ATP, WTA, ITF, Tennis Australia, French Tennis Federation, Wimbledon, the USTA, or any national association.
