Syria chaos as ‘gunfire and explosions’ erupt near Presidential Palace in Damascus | World | News
Damascus has reportedly been rocked by gunfire and explosions near the presidential palace of Syrian leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
It is unknown whether the incident was a targeted assault on al-Sharaa.
The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights says heavy gunfire was heard near the Presidential Palace in Damascus.
Syria OSINT also reports on X: “A short while ago, an IED planted on Al-Mazeh-People’s Palace road was detonated as an unknown convoy was heading towards the Palace overlooking #Damascus, #Syria. It was then followed by heavy gunfire. No immediate information is available, as of now.”
However, a Syrian government source to Al Arabiya TV: “No truth to the news circulating about a security incident inside the Presidential Palace.”
