Star-studded musical series is a must-watch for KPop Demon Hunter fans | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
A new series drawing inspiration from the K-Pop craze is essential viewing for devotees of Netflix’s most successful film of all time.
KPop Demon Hunters is an animated marvel that chronicles a trio of Korean pop performers who covertly employ their vocal talents and fighting prowess to shield the globe from demonic forces.
Following its achievement as the most-watched original movie in the platform’s history, surpassing the benchmark previously set by the Dwayne Johnson blockbuster Red Notice, audiences will be keen to uncover additional programmes that capitalise on this musical phenomenon.
Fortunately, competing streaming service Apple TV+ provides the solution through a celebrity-packed competition programme showcasing some of the world’s most prominent performers.
KPopped launched this Friday (29th August) and guarantees supporters a musical battle unlike any other, reports <a href=”https://www.mirror.co.uk/tv/tv-news/shows-like-kpop-demon-hunters-35820515″ rel=”Follow” target=”_self”>the Mirror</a>.
A description for the programme states: “East meets West when the biggest K-pop groups on the planet split into two teams and join forces with Western music superstars.
“Against a ticking clock, they must prepare and perform unique covers of iconic mega-hits, delivering spectacular collab performances, with a winning team crowned every episode.”
Should that fail to entice sufficiently, the eight-part series is brimming with superstars from the K-Pop universe, featuring ITZY, Billie, ATEEZ, STAYC, Kiss of Life and BLACKSWAN.
They’re set to compete against renowned artists including Kylie Minogue, Patti LaBelle, Kesha, Boyz II Men, Spice Girls’ Mel B, J Balvin and Culture Club’s Boy George in a series of song battles held in Seoul and judged by a live audience.
The show also features Gangnam Style icon Psy and Megan Thee Stallion, with hosting duties undertaken by Soojeong Son.
Just a day after the first eight episodes premiered on Apple TV+, fans are already singing the praises of the new show, hinting that a second season could be imminent.
One viewer posted on X: “the blackswan episode of kpopped was so good omg.”
Another enthused: “That Kpopped show is so cutieeeee. Meg was the perfect choice.”
A third couldn’t contain their excitement: “KPOPPED WAS SO GOOD I SCREAMED AND CHOKED MYSELF GOODNESS. I CANT BELIEVE THIS IS A REAL THING THAT EXISTS.”
And a final fan demanded: “we need KPOPPED season 2, i love this show already.”
