Sky offers broadband at ‘lowest price’ and will pay you to ditch your provider

If you are fed up with bad broadband speeds or simply don’t like the cut of your provider’s jib, now could be the time to switch. Sky has announced it is temporarily discounting its entry-level fibre broadband package, which is now just £24 per month, down from £27. The firm says this is the “lowest ever price” for this broadband product.

Sky is also discounting two other packages, but whichever you go for, it will also offer you up to £200 in bill credit to cover the cost of your early termination fees from your current provider if you decide to make the switch.

The £24 deal is for Sky’s Full Fibre 150 broadband, which as the name suggests offers speeds up to 150Mb/s. This is enough for a small two to four person household looking for comfortable surfing speeds for working from home and streaming TV in the evening.

You’ll also be fine for online gaming and video calling, even with several Wi-Fi devices connected at once.

The contract on offer is for 24 months, so getting the entry price at £3 less than usual is decent. However, Sky says the price will increase by £3 a month from April 1 this year, so the price going forward will be £27 per month.

Had Sky not knocked the initial price down, the £3 price rise would have seen you start on £27 and then pay £30 from next month, so this deal in effect gets you a year on £27 rather than immediately go up to £30, so you’re still saving compared to the usual price.

There are also discounts on two faster broadband packages if you think you need a bit more bandwidth. You can get Sky’s Full Fibre 300 (speeds up to 300Mb/s) for £27, down from £29, though note this offer ends on March 4, so you don’t have long.

Again, this initial £27 will go up by £3 on April 1, so your monthly bill would be £30 from then.

Finally, Full Fibre 500 (speeds up to 500Mb/s) is available for £28 per month, down from £31, until March 18 for new customers. As with the other two offers, it’s an easy way to get the first month for £3 less than normal before that April 1 price rise kicks in and you’re on £31.

But it’s better than paying the full price of £31 and then have the bill go up to £34 in April, so it will save you money.

In fact, shaving £3 off now saves you a total of at least £69 over the course of the 24 month contract, as you’re paying £3 less for 23 months.

All three packages also give you access to Sky Wi-Fi public Wi-Fi hotspots across the country.
