Shoppers recommend serum for ‘thicker hair in 6 weeks’

Hair thinning and hair loss can happen for all sorts of reasons, but if you’re someone who gets confidence from their locks, it can really knock how you feel. Thinning hair can leave you feeling less like yourself and not quite as good as you usually do. While there’s no magic fix for thicker hair, understanding why hair loss is happening can be key to making hair feel fuller and healthier. Still, there’s no denying that hair growth serums have firmly earned their place in modern self-care routines, with many people using them just as regularly as their body or skincare essentials.

Scroll through social media, and you’ll spot influencers and celebrities putting hair serums to the test and showing off their luscious tresses. And there’s one brand in particular that keeps popping up. Champo is a British haircare brand that says its formulas are inspired by the longstanding use of plant oils in traditions from “ancient India”.

The brand has been endorsed by Katie Piper and Vicky Pattison in recent years, with the latter sharing a post on Instagram in early 2025 saying she was “loving” Champo’s Pitta Growth Serum “for hair growth”.

Since launching, Champo has also worked with Davina McCall to promote its shampoo products and has appeared on Loose Women.

It’s fair to feel a little unsure; plenty of shoppers admit they were at first, but customer reviews suggest some people have seen results in as little as “six weeks” of using the serum.

“I was a bit sceptical that this actually worked, but after using it for around six weeks at the hairline, my hair feels and looks thicker, even baby hairs thickened up and grown,” said one customer review on the Champo website. “I have also noticed very little hair loss when brushing my hair each morning.”

Another customer added: “I have seen a massive improvement, my hair is thin as I am over 65. You can see lots of new growth, very impressed, just ordered my second bottle.”

The Pitta Growth Serum costs £34 for a 30ml bottle, or £46 (currently reduced from £56.67) for the larger 50ml size — and Champo lists both as best-sellers on its website.

According to the brand’s own independent research, they claim noticeable improvements can be achieved in approximately 12 weeks of daily use, although we haven’t tested this ourselves. The serum is recommended for use on partly dry or damp hair, with a few drops applied directly to the scalp and gently massaged in.

One reviewer said: “I started using this product three months ago, and there is a remarkable difference in the volume of my hair. I am very pleased with the results.”

Another added: “I bought this three months ago due to a postmenopausal 58-year-old who had hair loss and thinning. Thank goodness I came across this growth serum. My hair is fuller and thicker, literally a remarkable change in my hair.”

Alongside an assortment of plant oils, which the brand claims are rich in nutrients to encourage hair growth and nourish the scalp, the formula also contains caffeine and creatine to help support the environment in which hair follicles reside.

Champo says the serum is lightweight and absorbs easily, without leaving hair feeling greasy.

One shopper said: “The serum is truly wonderful — it smells heavenly and doesn’t leave any oily feeling at all. I’ve noticed a visible improvement in my hair.”

That said, hair serums aren’t a one-size-fits-all solution. As mentioned, the cause of hair thinning or hair loss can make all the difference when it comes to which products do (and don’t) work.

One customer explained: “I have just finished my first bottle of the 30ml growth serum, and I’m unsure if I’ll purchase again. For context, I’m 23 years old, and my hair type is extremely fine and prone to breakage. I have been religiously looking after my hair for a long time, but within the last year and a half, I have had nano-bead hair extensions.

“I decided to take out my hair extensions and put this serum to the test… Within the month and a half of using I can’t say I’ve seen any changes in my hair density or growth in length. I have stubborn hair that just does not grow quickly. However, the serum smells amazing and feels great on the scalp.”

According to the brand, the product is suitable for all hair types, but it works best when used consistently as part of a daily routine — it’s definitely not a quick fix.
