A UK school was plunged into lockdown after a man at a nearby bus stop was seen with a “suspected weapon”. Earlier today, John Spence Community High School in North Shields reportedly decided to take measures as a precaution.

Northumbria police was called after 2.15pm of a report that had been made, citing “suspicious activity” on Preston Road North. Police officials reached the spot to find the man, but the person who was the subject of the report had already left the area. Police maintained a visible presence in the neighborhood afterward, aiming to calm tensions and provide a sense of stability for residents who felt shaken by the incident.
