Samsung will give you a big reason to ditch your Galaxy phone this week

If you love all things Samsung, then there’s a massive week of news ahead. The Korean technology giant has confirmed that it’s holding a major Unpacked launch event in San Francisco with things kicking off at 6pm UK GMT on Wednesday, February 25. Full details are yet to be confirmed, but one thing we do know is that those with current Galaxy phones will find their devices suddenly look pretty inferior.

That’s because Samsung’s latest showcase will usher in the next wave of flagship Galaxy S devices.

If history repeats itself, then these will almost certainly be the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and ultimate S26 Ultra.

“On February 25, Samsung Electronics will host Galaxy Unpacked in San Francisco,” Samsung confirmed.

“Get ready for a mobile experience designed to remove friction from the things you do every day. “The new Galaxy S series is coming – built to simplify everyday interactions, inspire confidence and make Galaxy AI feel seamlessly integrated from the moment it’s in hand.”

Clearly, Samsung will be focusing on artificial intelligence in the next release, and there are going to be some new smart features coming to these phones.

We’re also expecting a boost to the hardware as well with upgrades to the cameras, processor, durability, battery and charging.

It will also be interesting to see if Samsung brings magnetic refilling to the S26 range. MagSafe is something Apple has included for a while, and Google recently brought it to its Pixel 10 phones as well. This system offers much-improved wireless refilling along with making it easy to attach accessories such as wallets.

Another thing we’ll be watching out for is some eye-catching colours. The latest iPhone 17 Pro Max is available in a striking Cosmic Orange, so maybe Samsung will follow with something similar.

Express.co.uk is taking the trip across the pond and will be bringing you all the latest news live as it happens so watch this space.
