A Russian soldier has described how over ninety percent of his unit were killed in just two months of combat in Ukraine.

Vladimir Putin‘s army has suffered staggering casualties to its frontline troops since it launched its invasion in February 2022.

Ukraine‘s General Staff claims the Russians have suffered almost 550,000 casualties in total to date, as the slaughter continues unabated.

In its latest bulletin, Kyiv’s generals said the Kremlin’s forces had lost another 1,200 troops on Wednesday alone.

The horrific slaughter faced by Putin’s frontline troops was described in chilling detail by a young man drafted into the army, during an interview with the Russian independent media outlet Verstka.

Anton (not his real name) was fighting near Kupyansk in the Kharkiv region with his military unit.

Out of six hundred soldiers, just forty remained alive after two months of intense fighting.

“I spent two months in that s*ithole near Kupyansk,” he said. “It was just some kind of extermination.

“Only five or six people from one squad returned alive. They also f***** up all the equipment.

“By the end, they simply mixed us up with the prisoners and just drove, drove, drove. How I survived is a good question.”

Anton was a grenade launcher and was spared being sent in with the initial assault groups, which he claimed meant almost “certain death”.

He explained how an attack was supposed to unfold in several stages, but would often just descend into complete chaos.

An attack would normally start with an artillery bombardment, followed by an infantry assault.

Then a support group was supposed to come to secure any gains, while other units were meant to evacuate the wounded and bring up supplies of ammunition and food.

However, he said that as a rule all the various units get mixed up and the infantry often scatters on the approaches to the enemy’s positions.

Anton said that senior officers treated the troops with utter contempt and total disregard for their wellbeing.

One commander told Anton and his comrades: “I don’t give a s*** about you. They’ll send me as many of you as I need.”
