Parts of Russian-occupied Ukraine are experiencing mass power cuts tonight after what Kremlin-backed security services there are calling “a massive drone attack”. Balitsky Evgeniy, the Governor of the Russian-occupied Zaporizhia region, told his followers on Telegram on Wednesday evening:

“A massive terrorist attack by enemy UAVs on populated areas of the Zaporizhia region is being recorded. At least five explosions were recorded over Melitopol, and an attempt was made to attack an electrical substation. Part of Melitopol, Primorsk, Energodar, and Akimovka are temporarily without power supply. Emergency crews will begin restoration work after the situation stabilizes.”

The news comes days after Ukraine‘s Operation Spider Web caused mass damage on Russia‘s strategic bomber arsenal, and hot on the heels of a special forces attack on the much hated Kerch Bridge in Crimea.

The drone attack on Russian airbases wiped out around 40 strategic bombers, according to Ukraine‘s military.

The attack was in the planning for over a year and represents a catastrophic failure in Russian intellignec.

The planes date back to Soviet days and are no longer in production, meaning they cannot be replaced.

They were used to launch massive missile strikes on cities across Ukraine, resulting in scores of killed and injured civilains.

Putin was reported to be furious and is on the war path to hunt down those responsible for the humiliating fiasco.

The Russian President spoke on the phone to his American counterpart on Wednesday, allegedly vowing to take his revenge on Ukraine.

In a post to his Truth Social site, Donald Trump wrote: “We discussed the attack on Russia’s docked airplanes, by Ukraine, and also various other attacks that have been taking place by both sides.

It was a good conversation, but not a conversation that will lead to immediate Peace. President Putin did say, and very strongly, that he will have to respond to the recent attack on the airfields.”
