Royal fans vote whether Andrew should be forced out of Royal Lodge | Royal | News
Prince Andrew should be forced to leave Royal Lodge, royal fans have claimed. The 65-year-old announced last week that he will relinquish his remaining titles and honours, which then led to speculation about his residence at his 30-room property on the Windsor estate.
Although it is believed King Charles has tried to encourage his brother to downsize to another royal home over the last few years, even making changes to his security in a bid to make this happen, Andrew has reportedly refused to budge. Andrew signed a 75-year lease in 2003, which would mean he can live in the property until 2078.
Royal fans were asked by a poll conducted by the Express whether he should be forced to leave the home.
It has been reported that Andrew had been living there for more than two decades while paying a “peppercorn rent”.
Discussing Royal Lodge, MP Robert Jenrick has said that it was “about time Prince Andrew took himself off to live in private” as “the public are sick of him”. He said: “He has disgraced himself, he has embarrassed the Royal Family time and again. I don’t see why the taxpayer, frankly, should continue to foot the bill at all. The public are sick of him.”
Of the 5,046 people who voted, a staggering 4,422 [88 percent] voted that he should be forced to move out, compared to 547 [11 percent] who shared that he should remain at the Windsor home.
An additional 77 people [one percent] voted that they were unsure what the royals should force Andrew to do.
Taking to the comment section, one fan, even adding a time limit for Andrew, wrote: “I think Prince Andrew should continue to do the right thing and this includes volunteering to vacate his 30 bedroom manor by New Year’s Eve…. It is the right thing to do!…”
A second commented: “I think he need to get a smaller place as what dose he need 30 rooms for he is not paying anything or his bills so yes he need to leave that house.”
Suggesting that Sarah Ferguson should should be forced to leave instead of Andrew, a third commented: “I dont think he should be forced to leave but I think Sarah should go, together they are bringing much shame to the monarchy…”
