Royal Family Christmas sleeping arrangements include ‘fish finger beds’ | Royal | News
However, for the royals that do stay, it is believed the sleeping arrangements are not necessarily as glamorous as some royal fans may think.
A royal expert once said that they were told some guests have to share rooms in “fish finger” style beds as the house reportedly only sleeps around 16 to 18 people.
It is also believed that some years have seen members of the Royal Family staying in staff quarters, which have occasionally been converted into guest bedrooms.
This was claimed by The Daily Mail’s Royal Editor, Rebecca English, who said: “In previous years, I’ve been told that they’ve actually had to kick staff out of their quarters. And Edward and Sophie were put in some of the staff quarters because they had nowhere else to stay.”
She added: “It sounds more glamorous than it is.”
While the Prince and Princess of Wales spend Christmas Day at Sandringham with their children every year, it is believed they return to their nearby home, Anmer Hall, to spend the night.
There are several other properties on the Sandringham Estate where other guests stay, while some guests reside at the main house.
King Charles is expected to stay at Sandringham for a few more days yet to continue enjoying the restful Christmas period before royal engagements resume in the New Year.
