Retired vicar jailed after butchering genitals with nail scissors | UK | News

A retired vicar who has been jailed after using nail scissors to cut open a man’s genitals while operating as part of a “Eunuch Maker” castration ring. Geoffrey Baulcomb, 79, pleaded guilty to causing grevious bodily harm with intent after footage of him carrying out the disturbing procedure in 2020 was found on his mobile phone. Baulcomb, who was ordained in 1970 and retired from St Mary the Virgin church in Eastbourne in 2003, previously admitted possessing extreme pornography and making and distributing images of children.

He was found guilty of distributing an indecent photo of a child in 2020, three counts of making indecent images in or before 2022 and three counts of possessing extreme pornographic images. The 79-year-old was sentenced to three years behind bars on Monday, the Daily Mail reports. Speaking at the Old Bailey, Judge Mark Lucraft said he had reduced the sentence because of the victim’s consent for the genital procedure alongside Baulcomb’s guilty plea and his health, age and character.

The 79-year-old was also found in possession of 182 extreme pornographic images showing serious injury to people’s private parts, five depicting an act threatening someone’s life and eight showing a person performing a sex act on an animal.

He also had moving images which appeared on the “Eunuch Maker” website, where visitors paid founder Marius Gustavson almost £300,000 to watch clips of shocking procedures including castration.

Gustavson, 47, who himself had his penis and a nipple removed, was jailed for life, with a minimum of 22 years last year.

Baulcomb and Gustavson were reportedly “acquaintances”, sharing over 10,000 messages over a four-year period.

“You undertook the procedure in conditions far from sterile and did so without any medical skills or training,” Judge Lucraft said. “The procedure and the resulting injury is one that is serious, it is a permanent, long-lasting procedure that will have serious effects on the victim.”

“It is an aggravating feature that the procedure [was] filmed,” he added. “Bearing in mind the obvious sexual nature of this offence, it is something that adds seriousness.

“Those who have written about you speak warmly and highly about you and your many qualities. It is clear many have been assisted by you over the years and I suspect many who knew you will have been deeply shocked by what they have heard in this hearing.”

Baulcomb previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent images of a child. Police raided his £25,000 cottage near Eastbourne in December 2022 and found heroin and tranquiliser ketamine.

He received a police caution for drug possession and a Church of England (CofE) disciplinary tribunal “utterly rejected” his claim that taking the drugs “periodically” over the last 20 years had “assisted him in carrying out his pastoral mission”.

His local diocese said Baulcomb’s permission to officiate was rescinded immedately after officials were contacted by the police. Following his guilty plea, the 79-year-old was granted conditional bail and ordered not to visit any CofE premises or have contact with children under 18.
