Manchester United loanee Rasmus Hojlund has revealed he’s become a “different player” since departing the club last summer. The forward secured a season-long loan switch to Serie A outfit Napoli.

The 23-year-old has featured 32 times across all competitions, scoring 12 goals whilst contributing 4 assists. His most recent strikes came in a double during the 3-2 victory away at Genoa earlier this month.

His displays in Italy, where he operates under former Chelsea and Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, have earned widespread acclaim. Hojlund has discussed how the Italian tactician has aided his development.

Speaking to Il Mattino, Hojlund said: “I still have a lot to learn, and I’m sure Conte is the right coach to help me grow in many ways. Compared to Rasmus in August, I’m a different player. I’m still improving, and even though I’m not very young, I’m sure I still have a lot of room for improvement.”

On Conte, he added: “He’s mentally incredibly strong. I’m fascinated by his mentality: he’s passionate, fierce. And he’s a winner. In fact, a serial winner. And if he doesn’t win, we immediately understand that we haven’t won.”

Hojlund arrived at United from Atalanta during the summer of 2023 for an initial £64million fee, though he failed to establish himself at Old Trafford, ultimately prompting his loan move to Napoli. The Serie A outfit possess an option to secure the move permanently during the summer for £38million.

Fellow loanee Marcus Rashford finds himself in similar circumstances, with Barcelona holding the option to convert his temporary arrangement into a permanent one for £26million.

Given both players are performing well, it increases the likelihood that both clubs will exercise those options. Such a scenario would deliver United a £64million windfall ahead of the summer transfer window.
