PS Plus April 2025 Essentials line-up, release date and games leaving the service | Gaming | Entertainment
PS Plus subscribers are counting down to the release of the PS4 and PS5 Essentials for April 2025. Headlined by Robocop Rogue City, the next batch of PlayStation Plus games have an April 1 release date. The games will be available as part of the PS Plus Essentials line-up until May 6, giving subscribers plenty of time to redeem them.
Unfortunately, however, it’s not all good news, because the current batch of PlayStation Plus Essentials will be leaving the service on April 1. If you’re a PS Plus subscriber, then consider this your last chance to redeem the likes of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Sonic Colours: Ultimate and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection.
The next wave of PS Plus Essentials was announced by Sony on X, alongside confirmation of the April 1 release date.
“I’d download that for a dollar,” reads a Sony tweet. “Your PlayStation Plus Monthly Games go live next Tuesday on April 1: RoboCop: Rogue City, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hackers Memory.”
Featuring brutal first-person gunplay, as well as the vocal talents of original Robocop actor Peter Weller, Robocop Rogue City is undoubtedly the pick of the bunch.
The game takes place between Robocop 2 and Robocop 3, as the titular hero unravels a shadowy conspiracy during a particularly nasty crime wave in Old Detroit.
Sony explains more: “Become the legendary part man, part machine, all cop hero and bring justice to the dangerous, crime-ridden streets of Old Detroit.
“With your powerful Auto-9 or one of a range of weapons available, eradicate criminals throughout this explosive first-person adventure. Your cyborg strength and cybernetic abilities can be upgraded as you progress, to make you an even more formidable law enforcement officer.”
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, on the other hand, is an asymmetrical multiplayer game in which players take on the role of a member of the notorious Slaughter Family, or a victim attempting to survive.
As a member of the Slaughter Family, your job is to kill anything that moves. Victims, meanwhile, will need to work together in order to solve objectives and escape.
Finally, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth – Hackers Memory is a third-person RPG in which players tame creatures and enter battle, all the while solving a mystery centred around a hacker.
As for the games leaving PS Plus in April, Dragon Age The Veilguard is definitely worth picking up for free, especially given its usual £69.99 price tag.
Developed by BioWare, the action role-playing game features many of the studio’s usual gameplay tropes, including a branching narrative and strategic combat.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection is my personal favourite, featuring 13 classic TMNT games from the late 80s and early 1990s.
This includes absolute gems like Turtles in Time, which is playable with friends via online multiplayer.
