Protestors arrested after breaking into HMP Wormwood Scrubs | UK | News
Protesters managed to break into a UK jail in an effort to support a Palestine Action prisoner on hunger strike. Officers from the Metropolitan Police flooded into HMP Wormwood Scrubs in West London after the demonstrators were able to break into the prison grounds on Saturday evening.
The group that was protesting in support of the prisoner on hunger strike then refused to leave the grounds. Protesters then allegedly blocked prison staff from being able to enter or leave the prison and threatened officers who arrived on the scene.
A spokesperson for the police force added: “All those involved are currently detained and will be arrested on suspicion of aggravated trespass.
“We will update on the number of arrests when all those involved have been taken into custody.”
The prison nicknamed “The Scrubs” is a Category B prison, located in the White City area of the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham.
Category B prisons are the level below maximum security category A prisons and are supposed to be secure, closed facilities.
