Princess Kate’s one move that is ‘really important’ to King Charles | Royal | News

Princess Kate has conducted a handful of engagements already this year despite being just weeks into 2025.

The Princess of Wales, 43, has made a number of poignant visits throughout January as part of her gradual return to work following the end of her cancer treatment in autumn.

Just weeks ago, Kate made her first surprise visit of the year as she stepped out at The Royal Marsden Hospital where she herself received cancer treatment in 2024.

The princess spent time talking to staff members at the hospital, as well as patients currently undergoing chemotherapy.

The princess then carried out royal duties this week, both with Prince William and by herself, with an appearance in London for Holocaust Memorial day on Monday, followed by a trip to Wales where she visited a textile manufacturing company and a children’s hospice.

While it is expected to be some time before the mum-of-three returns to royal duty on a full-time basis, one expert believes King Charles deems “really important” the royal’s return into the spotlight.

Historian and author Dr Ed Owens told Us Weekly that Kate’s return to her royal role is important to the King, 76, as he continues with his own cancer treatment.

The author said: “Knowing that Catherine is available, supporting William and also supporting the monarchy, is, I think, really important to him right now.”

Despite still undergoing cancer treatment, the monarch, 76, is very much also focused on his royal duties this year.

This was shown by his poignant trip to Poland on Monday, where he became the first ever British monarch to visit Auschwitz.

The King also expressed his desire last year to return to royal tours after he spent 10-days visiting Australia and Samoa with Queen Camilla.

Palace sources at the time said the trip had been a “perfect tonic” for the monarch, with a normal schedule of royal tours set to resume this year if the King is given the go-ahead by doctors.
