Princess Kate’s incredible birthday gift from late Queen Elizabeth | Royal | News
The late Queen Elizabeth II reportedly gifted the then-Duchess of Cambridge pieces of jewellery from her private collection on her 40th birthday.
Today, January 9, Princess Kate will likely be showered with wonderful gifts – but on her 40th birthday back in 2022, the late Queen reportedly made “a particular fuss” of the future Queen.
According to New Idea, a source said: “Her Majesty was extremely generous on Kate’s birthday, and gifted her with some jewels from her private collection, which we’ll no doubt see her wearing at special occasions in the near future.
“But there was one very special diamond set that brought tears to Kate’s eyes – the Coronation Necklace and Earrings.”
The insider also told the publication that the late Queen requested to speak to Kate privately – and even made her promise to one condition.
The late monarch, who died aged 96 in September 2022, personally requested that Kate would promise to wear the Coronation Set when Prince William, “is crowned”.
The late Queen is said to have believed that it was right for any future Queens to take on some of her jewellery. The insider said: “It is very dear to the Queen, who wore it at her own coronation, as did her mum, the Queen Mother, and her grandmother, Queen Mary, when their husbands became King. The Queen told Kate it’s only right that she is the next queen to wear them.”
Recently speaking about gifts that Kate could receive this year, Speaking of Kate, royal correspondent Jennie Bond told OK!: “”I imagine they will shower her with gifts – perhaps some pampering products like luxurious bath oils and scented candles.
“Maybe William will buy her some silk pyjamas or cashmere jumpers – things that are soft on skin that has been bruised by surgery and treatment.”
