Prince William shares rare personal message as he shows off his Welsh skills | Royal | News
Prince William has shared a rare personal message to the Welsh rugby team tonight ahead of their game with France in the Six Nations.
The Prince of Wales, 42, took to social media to wish the team the “very best of luck” and even showed off his own Welsh skills.
The future King wrote: “Wishing @welshrugbyunion the very best of luck tonight against France, and throughout @sixnationsrugby! Amdani!”
To stress the message came from him, the Prince of Wales signed it off with his name’s initial, W.
The Welsh word Amdani translates to “go for it”.
The game taking place tonight in Paris will be the first of the 2025 Six Nations tournament, taking place at the Stade de France.
The prince will likely be watching the game from his Adelaide Cottage home in Windsor.
This is not the first time William has cheered on the Welsh rugby team, of which he is known to be an avid fan.
In October 2023, the future King travelled to France with his eldest son Prince George, 11, to cheer the team on in their quarter-final clash against Argentina in the Rugby World Cup.
The prince has been the patron of the Welsh Rugby Union (WRU) since 2016.
Beforehand, the prince was the Vice Royal Patron of the Welsh Rugby Union, a title he was first given in February 2007.
While William backs the Welsh team, his wife Kate, the Princess of Wales, became patron of the Rugby Football Union (RFU) in 2022.
