Prince Harry opens door to return but Meghan ‘unlikely’ to follow | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV
Prince Harry is reportedly keen to return to the UK, but Meghan Markle is resisting the move, according to a Royal expert.
The couple have resided in California for five years, and it seems the novelty has worn off for Harry, who is said to be longing for a return to British shores. It’s suggested that Prince Charles and Prince William are leading the “Bring Harry Back” campaign.
The Sussexes are generally seen as a package deal, choosing to reside in the same country. However, it’s always beneficial to have options, which is why we sought the insight of Lynn Carratt, a public relations specialist at E20 Communications, who is well-versed in Royal affairs.
Carratt told Express US: “While a return isn’t guaranteed, it’s also not off the table. Harry keeping his options open – which is why this conversation keeps resurfacing.”
She further commented: “Meghan had a difficult experience here, and it’s unlikely she’d welcome a full-time return. Her identity, support system, and career opportunities are firmly anchored in the U.S.”
There has been much speculation about Harry’s potential return to the UK, and he hasn’t done anything to dispel these rumours, a point noted by Carratt.
She observed: “There’s certainly a lot of noise around the idea, and Harry hasn’t done much to quieten it.”
She further commented: “I wouldn’t say he’s packing his bags just yet, but I do think he’s leaving the door wider open than he has in years.”
Harry recently penned an essay expressing his affection for Great Britain, and mentioned that he “currently” resides in the U.S., a choice of words that made the PR expert ponder because “Harry knows the weight his phrasing carries.
“It reads less like a man fully settled abroad and more like someone allowing room for a shift in the future. He has always said he wants his children to know the country he grew up in and understand their heritage.”
There are happily married couples who reside in different cities, states and even countries, which led us to question if this is something Harry and Meghan might contemplate, a topic Carratt delved into.
She doesn’t envision Meghan relocating back to the U.K. permanently because it didn’t go so well the first time around, but perhaps the Sussexes could devise a plan that allows both the Duke and Duchess to spend more time in their native lands.
“In today’s world, it’s not as unusual as it once looked. Plenty of couples maintain strong marriages while living in different cities or even different continents, especially when careers pull them in separate directions.
“And Harry and Meghan have always done things differently.”
As for Ian Pelham Turner, former Royal photographer, he holds a stronger view on Harry moving home, believing that the Duke is serious about it.
Pelham Turner, a close acquaintance of Harry’s late mother, Princess Diana, stated: “Harry is very serious about returning to Britain and I feel Meghan and the children would be made to feel welcome with them all spending part of the year in Britain and part of the year in America.
“I see no reason in this day and age why they cannot commit to taking up royal engagements especially with disabled people but also with ethnic communities.”
