Pokémon Pokopia is playable this week – How to play it early | Gaming | Entertainment

The next spin-off game in the world of Pokémon is now less than a month away with Pokémon Pokopia set to launch on March 5, 2026, but there’s actually a way you can play it early this week.

That is if you’ve got a ticket to Pokémon Europe International Championships, which are set to take place later in London this week. Celebrating all things competitive Pokémon, the event will take place at London’s Excel Centre between February 13 and 15.

While competitions in Scarlet and Violet as well as the trading card game will be front and centre, Nintendo is also bringing a demo of Pokémon Pokopia to the show. A short snippet of the game will be playable for those in attendance – which is where the kicker is.

Sadly, there are currently no more tickets to the Pokémon Europe International Championships available to purchase. That means if you don’t already have one, you’re too late and there’s no way to try out the Pokémon Pokopia demo.

Pokopia looks to be a very different direction for the Pokémon series with it adopting gameplay mechanics from the likes of Animal Crossing and Stardew Valley. You’ll play as a Ditto Pokémon tasked with revitalising a collection of islands that have fallen into disrepair.

The more you spruce up the island, the more Pokémon you’ll attract. As you discover more of the beloved critters, they’ll slowly teach you new skills which can be used to explore more of the islands and further improve them.

There’s an in-depth crafting system that lets players truly make their worlds their own. You’ll often find Pokémon offering quests too, so there’s plenty to do in this spin-off title.

If you weren’t a fan of Pokémon Z-A, this might be the palate cleanser you need to re-ignite that passion for the series.

We’ve reached out to Nintendo to confirm how in-depth the Pokémon Pokopia demo will be at the Pokémon Europe International Championships. We’ve also asked if the demo will become available to download on the eshop ahead of the game’s release date.

Pokémon Pokopia is set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch 2 on March 5, 2026.
