A major fire and rescue operation is currently in progress in London, with 10 fire engines and approximately 70 firefighters battling a blaze at a church in the capital.

According to the London Fire Brigade, the chapel on South Road, Southall, is well alight, with “part of the ground floor, second floor and roof” engulfed in flames, a spokesperson confirmed.

Crews from Southall, Ealing, Heston and neighbouring fire stations rushed to the scene following nearly two dozen emergency calls from members of the public alerting authorities to the fire, reports The Mirror.
