One of the most anticipated PlayStation games since Spider-Man won’t release in 2025 | Gaming | Entertainment

It looks like slim pickings for PS5 owners in 2025, as Sony outlines launch plans for its first-party exclusives.

According to a new business report, Sony plans to release two major first-party games in 2025, including Death Stranding 2 on June 26, followed by Ghost of Yotei in October.

Unfortunately, however, it looks like one of the most hotly-anticipated superhero games since Marvel’s Spider-Man won’t be released until April 2026 at the very earliest.

In the PlayStation business report, Death Stranding 2 and Ghost of Yotei are listed for this financial year, which ends next April.

Marvel’s Wolverine and Naughty Dog’s Intergalactic are listed as ‘Upcoming’, which means they won’t launch until Financial Year 26 at the earliest.

Even more worrying is that Wolverine and Intergalactic aren’t even officially confirmed for Financial Year 26, which runs from April 2026 until the end of March 2027.

Considering Marvel’s Wolverine was announced all the way back in 2021, it seems likely that Sony and developer Insomniac will have it ready in 2026, but we’ll have to wait and see.

Intergalactic, on the other hand, almost certainly won’t launch in 2026, at least according to industry insider Jason Schreier.

In a post on ResetEra, Schreier said that last year’s Intergalactic reveal was a very early tease and that the game won’t launch next year.

This makes it even more crucial that Wolverine makes an appearance on PlayStation 5 in 2026.

With Sony typically releasing a big blockbuster game in the autumn season ahead of the holidays, I predict a September-November release date for the upcoming superhero game.

Little is known about Marvel’s Wolverine, which was announced with a cinematic teaser trailer featuring the popular member of the X-Men.

Unsurprisingly, Marvel’s Wolverine is said to feature a more mature tone than games like Spider-Man, which was also developed by Insomniac Games.

The developer has also confirmed plans to take advantage of the PS5 Pro, which means superior visuals and improved frame-rates.

The developer has a fantastic track record, creating some of the best superhero games ever in the form of Spider-Man, Miles Morales and Spider-Man 2. The studio is also responsible for the likes of Ratchet and Clank and Sunset Overdrive.

Sony also addressed its PlayStation Plus pricing strategy during the recent business report, hinting that prices could continue to increase in the future.
