Nottingham Forest vs West Ham halted for medical emergency | Football | Sport
Nottingham Forest’s clash with West Ham was halted in the 49th minute after a spectator suffered a medical emergency in the stands, with the home physio rushing across the pitch to attend to the scene. At the City Ground, shortly after half-time, referee Craig Pawson blew his whistle to stop play after being alerted to the emergency.
After being given the go-ahead, a Forest medical darted across the pitch and cut through the players to treat the person involved. At the time of the incident, the two teams were deadlocked at 0-0.
And a match appearing to be heading towards a goalless draw that wouldn’t lift the pressure off of either Nuno or Potter, three goals in the final six minutes sent it into a late frenzy.
Jarrod Bowen broke the deadlock in the 84th minute, twisting and turning before rifling an effort past Mats Selz from the edge of the box.
Four minutes later, impact substitute Crysencio Summerville was fouled inside the penalty area and Lucas Paqueta stepped up to send the goalkeeper the wrong way.
The Brazilian has been linked with moves away from the London Stadium, to Tottenham and Aston Villa, but he appeared to pledge his future to West Ham by kissing their badge in celebration.
In stoppage time, a revitalised Hammers side sealed all three points when Callum Wilson buried a header from close range.
The City Ground had seen many of its home fans depart at this stage in more worrying scenes for the club, with speculation still rife surrounding Nuno and his reported concerns about their transfer activity.
