‘No one can argue this Disney film isn’t perfect’ with 100% rating | Films | Entertainment
In the ever-growing Disney universe there are new animations each year stealing the hearts of families across the world – but one classic still takes the top spot for many.
Since its release in 1995, Toy Story, the original movie in what became a four-movie franchise, has solidified itself as an absolute favourite for film fans. Proving this further is its impressive Rotten Tomatoes review score of 100% – completely perfect.
The adventure comedy film was produced by Pixar for Disney and introduced the world to characters that have since become household names. That’s right, whether you’ve seen Toy Story or not, it’s most likely you’ve heard of Buzz Lightyear, Woody or even the iconic Mr Potato Head.
One Rotten Tomatoes review praised the film for its timeless ability to be rewatched time and time again. They wrote: “The original Toy Story is a movie that’s way ahead of its time. While the animation may show its age, the story between Woody and Buzz is absolutely timeless, and the chemistry between Tom Hanks and Tim Allen, respectively, is impeccable!
“I loved it when I first saw it on VHS as a kid, and I still love it to this day. One of my Top 5 favourite movies of all time!”
Now a timeless classic, Toy Story takes you into a world where a little boy named Andy’s toys come to life when humans aren’t around. His trusty favourite toy is a kind cowboy named Woody, played by Tom Hanks, but he is soon replaced when the boy receives a new toy to play with – Buzz Lightyear.
Their story continues throughout the following films as Andy grows older and the toys feel left behind. In secret, while the humans are away, the toys go on a series of adventures in what is a completely original and, according to viewers, “groundbreaking” story.
A review claims: “An absolute must-see! A groundbreaking film which changed animation forever. It’s my least favourite of the 3 Toy Story films (I refuse to acknowledge number 4) but is still packed with great characters, lots of humour and heart.
“It’s the foundation for everything that comes after it in the franchise, so definitely worth watching. Filled with clever references which will keep adults chuckling while the kids enjoy the action.
It’s not just years later that families are keen to sing its praises; during its release, the film became a box office hit as the second highest-grossing film of 1995. Toy Story is frequently considered to be one of the best animated movies ever made, thanks to its innovative ways as the first-ever computer-animated film of its kind.
Another film fan shared: “Toy Story was a great step forward for Pixar in the history of cinema, They manage to deliver a good film full of quality and creativity that keeps you hooked from start to finish.” Addign to this, a crtitic wrote:” I don’t see how anyone can say this isn’t a perfect film. The story is tight, it had some strong emotional beats, and the voice acting is spot on.”
The other films in the franchise also have incredibly high ratings, with Toy Story 2 at 100% and Toy Story 3 at 98%. Meanwhile, the fourth film ranks the lowest, still with an impressive score of 96%.
