After months of rumours, leaks and speculation, Nintendo fans are just moments away from discovering everything there is to know about the Nintendo Switch 2. Nintendo is planning to hold a special Direct presentation dedicated exclusively to the Switch 2 console, where it is expected to announce the release date, price and games line-up for the launch period and year ahead.

If you’ve been anxiously counting down the minutes to the Nintendo Direct presentation, then the good news is that the wait is almost over. In a post on X, Nintendo UK confirmed that the Switch 2 Direct will take place at 2pm BST on April 2. “Join us tomorrow, April 2nd, at 14:00 (UK time) for a closer look at Nintendo Switch 2!” reads a Nintendo tweet.

“The Nintendo Direct: Nintendo Switch 2 – 02.04.2025 livestream will be around 60 minutes long.”

The lengthy runtime is good news for fans who were disappointed by the relatively short Switch 2 teaser trailer released back in January.

The original trailer (below) confirmed that the Switch 2 would feature a bigger display than the original console, and would come with upgraded JoyCon controllers.

Judging by the Switch 2 announcement trailer, Mario Kart 9 appears to be in development for the console at launch.

Better yet, it looks like Mario Kart 9 could support 24-person multiplayer, which should lead to some chaotic races.
