NFL icon Jason Kelce issues warning to fans and says ‘it is not real’ | NFL | Sport
Former NFL star Jason Kelce has sent a clear message on X warning fans that comments about Bad Bunny’s planned Super Bowl LX appearance being attributed to him are not real. The 37-year-old rarely uses his account on the platform, which has roughly 750,000 followers.
On Tuesday evening, he was forced to make a post after multiple social media accounts credited him with quotes condemning those who have slammed the Puerto Rican’s upcoming set. He had been directly quoted stating: “If Bad Bunny is a bad fit for the Super Bowl, then maybe the people making these comments are a bad fit for America’s future.”
Following that, the retired former Philadelphia Eagles center has publicly addressed the situation. “I normally don’t comment on things like this, but I feel I need to address that there are a number of accounts posting fake quotes and attributing them to me on this platform right now,” he said.
“I appreciate @X putting community notes on several and I will not address the other accounts specifically, because I do not want to amplify their engagement. But please know, unless you hear something directly from me via one of my platforms, it is not real.”
Kelce has moved into a punditry role following his retirement from the professional game last March. He has also started a podcast in recent years with Kansas City Chiefs star and brother Travis, who is the fiancee of singer Taylor Swift.
Just hours after refuting his apparent comments on Bad Bunny, the podcast’s Instagram account confirmed that award-winning actor Keanu Reeves was to be their next guest. In the teaser trailer, the topic of who would win next years’ Super Bowl came up with Travis unsurprisingly backing his team to get the job done.
“I think the Kansas City Chiefs are rolling right now, big guy. That’s all I have to say,” he said, with Reeves cheering in agreement and flashing a big smile.
The Chiefs were beaten finalists by the Eagles earlier this year and will therefore be aiming to go one better. Kelce junior’s side have endured a mixed start to the current season with three wins and three defeats from six games.
