New snow maps show exact date blizzards hit as far south as Brighton – 20 cities buried | Weather | News
The UK is braced for a barrage of snowfall in the coming weeks, with 20 cities set to be hit. According to the latest weather maps from WX Charts, snow is predicted to arrive on Wednesday, March 11.
The maps show snowfall hitting parts of the nation at 6am, with more areas impacted by 12pm. A number of major cities are forecast for flurries, including Birmingham, Newcastle, Leeds and Sheffield. As well as the snow, the weather maps show temperatures dropping towards freezing across the UK on March 11.
At 6am, both Swansea and Cardiff are forecast to see up to 1mm of snowfall per hour. Meanwhile, Sheffield could see up to 30cm of snow settle at the same time.
The snow is forecast to get heavier as the morning goes on, with a number of additional cities set to see flurries. The snow is forecast to fall as far south as Brighton, with Exeter and London also set to be affected.
The snow will be heaviest in Birmingham, Chester and a large part of Yorkshire at 12pm. The maps show up to 30cm of the white stuff falling at this time.
Meanwhile, the mercury is set to drop towards freezing in a number of areas across the UK. In the South West, temperatures are forecast to drop as low as -1C at 12pm on March 11.
The south coast will see similar temperatures, while it will be 0C in London at the same time. Bristol will see conditions of 1C while the Midlands is expected to be the coldest region.
According to the maps, the Midlands will see temperatures as low as -2C at 12pm. The whole region is expected to see temperatures below freezing.
Further north, Manchester can expect temperatures of -1C while it is forecast to be 0C in Newcastle. Conditions will be warmer in Scotland with highs of 7C.
