But there is one film currently streaming for free on the BBC that viewers say is a “must-see” and even an “unmissable masterpiece”.

It also has a strong 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Fans have praised the acting, music and storyline, with many saying it feels like a throwback to older rom-coms. And for those looking for something simple and enjoyable, this film has quickly become a favourite.

That film is Marry Me. Released in 2022, Marry Me is a romantic comedy drama starring Jennifer Lopez, Owen Wilson and Maluma.

The story follows global pop superstar Kat Valdez, played by Lopez, who plans to marry her on-stage partner during a live concert.

However, after discovering he has been unfaithful, she makes a spontaneous decision to marry a complete stranger from the crowd instead.

That stranger is Charlie Gilbert, a maths teacher played by Owen Wilson, who is holding a “Marry Me” sign.

The film was directed by Kat Coiro and is based on the 2012 webcomic of the same name by Bobby Crosby.

It premiered in Los Angeles on February 9, 2022, before being released in the United States on February 11, following delays due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The film received positive reviews from critics and went on to gross $56.5 million worldwide against a budget of $23 million.

Viewers have also shared glowing reviews, with many praising the chemistry between the lead actors.

One person said: “Such a good film. What really made it was the chemistry. J-lo and Owen Wilson had perfect chemistry! It felt like we were watching a 90s romcom.

“I was saying recently that I miss those romcoms and then this was out! Must see for any romantic comedy fan.”
