M&S opens much bigger and revamped supermarket in UK town | UK | News

Marks & Spencer has officially opened its expanded store in Doncaster, South Yorkshire, offering customers a major boost in both fashion and food options. The 20,000 square feet extension at M&S Wheatley is part of a wider plan to modernise and enhance 12 stores across the UK this year. The revamped store’s foodhall, which opened last month, has been redesigned in a fresh market-style layout and is now a third larger than before.

Shoppers can explore the latest Autumn/Winter collections across womenswear, menswear, and kidswear. The fashion offering includes everyday dresses, occasion pieces, and standout outerwear featuring reimagined heritage checks.

In menswear, the Autograph line takes centre stage, with premium fabrics and signature styles such as the Supima Cotton T-shirt.

The new beauty section features fan-favourite ranges, including Apothecary, Fresh Elements, and Burst Bodycare, while a dedicated Christmas gift shop showcases festive collaborations, including the M&S x Kelly Hoppen collection and a Beauty Advent Calendar designed with Bella Freud.

Store Manager Claire Cunliffe joined colleagues outside the store just before opening to cut the ribbon.

She said: “We are so excited to launch our new fashion and beauty offer today. We’ve had such a great response from customers to our new foodhall and now we can trusy say, we are delivering the very best of M&S Food and Fashion.

“Thank you to all of our customers for their patience this year while work has taken place and to my whole team for all their hard work. We cannot wait to showcase the best the store has to offer and serve our customers in the run up to Christmas and beyond.”

M&S Wheatley Doncaster is located at the Wheatley Centre Shopping Park and is open from 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sundays.

The new launch comes shortly after M&S announced the closure of 11 of its smaller café outlets, continuing a broader strategy to reshape its store network.

In 1980, M&S became the first British supermarket chain to sell packaged sandwiches and it has already launched its Christmas sandwiches.

This year’s festive lineup includes the Ho Ho Ho Honey Ham Hock and Cornish Cove, plant-based Fa La La La Fel Wrap, plus a Boxing Day Curry Wrap, or the Turkey Feast Sandwich.

For something extra festive, try the 12-layer Christmas Club Sandwich, filled with roast dinner flavours, or the brioche rolls inspired by surf & turf, featuring lobster, king prawns, or rare roast beef with Dijon mayo.

M&S is donating 5% of all Christmas Food on the Move sales to Shelter, helping tackle homelessness and support vulnerable people across the UK.
