Morrisons offers drivers more savings with launch of new £1 deal

Morrisons has introduced a new offer for electric car owners, with a new £1 deal coming into effect at EV forecourts across the country. Under the new deal, electric car drivers can earn 5 Morrisons More points for every £1 spent at any MFG EV Power charging bay.

These Morrisons More points can be redeemed at most Morrisons supermarkets, with the discount applicable to in-store items such as groceries and essentials. Morrisons More points are also accrued for every product purchased in-store or online, and per litre of fuel, with shoppers handed a £5 voucher for every 5,000 points collected.

EV owners can start collecting Morrisons points at any Motor Fuel Group EV Power locations nationwide as part of a new partnership between the two firms. Matt McLellan, group customer, marketing and data director at Morrisons, stressed the deal showed how the chain was making life “even easier for customers”.

Matt said: “We are always looking for new ways to give our customers more value through the Morrisons More programme, and this partnership with MFG does exactly that. Rewarding customers with 5 Morrisons More points for every £1 spent charging at all MFG EV Power bays across the UK means they can earn valuable points on the road and enjoy savings when they shop with us in store.

“As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, it’s important that we continue to evolve our loyalty offering to reflect how our customers live their lives. By linking EV charging with Morrisons More points, we’re making it even easier for customers to benefit from choosing Morrisons – whether they’re filling their fridge or powering their car.”

However, experts have stressed that points are not currently redeemable at Morrisons Daily convenience stores. MFG has already completed a £105 million investment to upgrade Morrisons forecourts, installing even more electric car charging bays for road users.

Martin Symes, EV Director at MFG, explained the tie-up with Morrisons was playing a “leading role” in boosting UK infrastructure.

Martin said: “We are delighted to partner with Morrisons to reward our EV Power customers with Morrisons More points. This collaboration is another step forward in our commitment to creating a seamless, customer-focused EV charging experience.

“With the addition of 250 ultra-rapid charging bays this year at Morrisons sites, we are proud to play a leading role in building the infrastructure required for the UK’s electric future.”
