Morrisons launches major new service – with supermarket loyalty card boost | Personal Finance | Finance
Holidaymakers can now book a getaway through Morrisons Travel, a new travel booking service allowing customers to book their next trip through the supermarket’s website or app – and be rewarded with loyalty card points for doing so.
The service, which is powered by Expedia, gives customers access to a range of travel options, from city breaks to beach escapes. Shoppers can browse flights, choose from more than 900,000 properties worldwide and book car hire, tours and activities to complete their trip. Jamie Winter, director of procurement at Morrisons, said: “We’re excited to be able to offer our customers even more reasons to shop at Morrisons with the launch of our new travel booking service, powered by Expedia Group. Customers can now book everything from flights to hotels through Morrisons while being rewarded through our More Card, once their trip is complete.”
He added: “This new service is designed to make life a little easier by offering more simple, good-value options in areas that really matter to our customers.”
Customers who book through the service will earn 10 More Points on their Morrisons More Card for every £1 spent on hotels, car hire and activities. Points earned from bookings will appear in the More app as ‘pending points’ and will be awarded once travel has been completed.
The launch further extends the Morrisons More Card, which enables customers to earn five More Points on all products when they scan their More Card in store, online or in selected Morrisons Daily stores and groceries on Amazon.
Customers can also earn More Points on every litre of fuel purchased at Morrisons petrol filling stations. Once customers collect 5,000 More Points, they receive a Morrisons Fiver, redeemable in-store or online at a future shop.
More Card customers can also benefit from discounted prices on selected products, as well as tailored coupons based on items they regularly buy.
Signing up for a Morrisons More Card is free. Customers can register online or in-store by speaking to a colleague.
Launching in 1899 as an egg and butter stall in Bradford, Morrisons now boasts 500 supermarkets and 1,700 daily convenience stores.
