Morrisons issues urgent product recall over ‘allergy health risk’ | UK | News
Morrisons customers have been issued a “do not eat” warning for one of its products that has been incorrectly labelled. Anyone who has purchased its Savers Salad Cream should return it for a full refund due to undeclared egg and mustard allergens. The supermarket explained that, due to a problem with the supplier, some salad cream bottleS were given Savers Tomato Ketchup 450g back labels.
This puts people with egg and mustard allergies at risk as they may be unaware of those ingredients. Morrisons explained: “Supplier has incorrectly labelled a quantity of stock with Savers Tomato Ketchup 450g back labels. This means that egg and mustard allergens present in the salad cream are not declared and the product therefore poses a possible allergy health risk.”
The affected product is a 420g bottle of the Savers Salad Cream, with batch code L25 122 and a best before date of August 2026.
Morrisons confirmed that shoppers can return the salad cream without a receipt and still receive a full refund.
It said: “If you have purchased this product, please do not eat it and return it to us for a full refund. We don’t need a receipt.”
A Food Standards Agency (FSA) spokesperson said: “Morrisons is recalling the above product from customers and has been advised to contact the relevant allergy support organisations.
“If you have bought the above product do not eat it. Instead, return it to any Morrisons store for a full refund. No receipt is required.”
Morrisons added that anyone requiring more information should contact its Online Service Department on 0345 322 0000.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “We apologise for the inconvenience this may cause and assure customers of our continuing commitment to the highest standard of product quality and safety. No other products are affected by this issue.”
