Meghan Markle’s deal is dead but it could mean more bad news for royals | TV & Radio | Showbiz & TV
Meghan Markle and Netflix have called time on their partnership as far as her As Ever collection of teas, jam, honey and baking mixes are concerned. Both parties have made it clear it was a joint decision as a Netflix spokesperson said, “It was always intended, Meghan will continue growing the brand and take it into its next chapter independently”.
A spokesperson for the Sussexes said that the brand is “grateful for Netflix’s partnership through launch and our first year. We have experienced meaningful and rapid growth and As ever is now ready to stand on its own. We have an exciting year ahead and can’t wait to share more”.
While this could certainly be seen as a positive step for Meghan to regain full control of her brand, it does beg the question, what’s next for the Sussexes?
This is not the first time one of her commercial ventures has come to an end. Her short-lived, $20 million deal with Spotify in 2023 resulted in just 12 episodes of her Archetypes podcast and eventually led to a tense breakup with the streaming platform.
Meghan and Harry still have a “first-look” deal with Netflix but the pair’s movie Cookie Queens which premiered at The Sundance Festival was not picked up by the streaming platform.
As Ever launched 11 months ago and the partnership is now over. Meanwhile, insiders have suggested that the Duchess of Sussex’s lifestyle show, With Love, Meghan was “not returning as a series”.
Royal experts have previously argued when the Sussexes commercial ventures struggle, or in this case, when they cut ties, it may make the couple feel pressured to return to the one topic that they know will produce huge returns – The Royal Family.
This will only mean more bad news for the monarchy who have been hit with one of the biggest scandals ever.

If the Sussexes return to the topic of dropping “truth bombs” about the monarchy it will take away from their non-royal content and their philanthropic efforts like their recent trip to Jordan.
The Royal Family benefits when Prince Harry and Meghan are seen as accomplished creators, successful entrepreneurs and global philanthropists but when a major deal comes to an end it reinforces a narrative that they struggle to maintain a career outside of the Firm.
This has led to some experts suggesting this could be another catalyst for Harry to seek reconciliation with King Charles.
Meanwhile, insiders say Meghan remains committed to refining the As Ever business as it evolves, learning from early challenges while continuing to build momentum.
So as they say when one door closes another opens… let’s hope Meghan’s resilience and optimism doesn’t dwell on this latest blip in the road.
