Meghan Markle’s ‘awkward’ gesture towards ‘preoccupied’ Prince Harry spotted by expert | Royal | News
Meghan Markle once had to guide Prince Harry at a public event after he appeared distracted, according to a body language expert.
Last November, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were invited to join officials to open a new training facility called West Coast Warrior Fitness Programme at the United States Navy SEALs in San Diego.
While Meghan Markle, 43, seemed very invested in the event, Prince Harry, 40, seemed to be distracted, with his wife even having to gently pull him forward to watch the Foundation CEO Robin King cut the ribbon.
The couple were then seen waving to the crowd of watchers before touring the facility and meeting veterans.
Although Prince Harry feels passionately about such events and engagements, especially as he served two tours of Afghanistan himself, it is believed he was distracted on that day as he had reportedly been snubbed from his father King Charles’s 75th birthday.
According to The Mirror, the party was held at Clarence House and was attended by the King’s closest friends and family, with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle having reportedly never received an invite.
This was despite reports that the couple were invited but declined to come, which was reported in The Sunday Times just beforehand.
A spokesperson for Harry and Meghan told the Daily Mail at the time: “There has been no contact regarding an invitation to His Majesty’s upcoming birthday. It is disappointing the Sunday Times has misreported this story.”
This year, King Charles was seen out on royal duty on his birthday, having opened two Coronation Hub food banks.
Prince Harry did not fly out to the UK from his Montecito mansion to see his father on his big day, however it is believed the pair would have enjoyed a phone call together, likely to have included Harry’s children Prince Archie, five, and Princess Lilibet, three.
It is not known when the duke will next see his father in person.
Prince William also wished his father a happy birthday, most likely in person and on social media where the prince, 42, shared a recent photograph of the 76-year-old monarch.
